New Yard Waste Collection Rules - July 1
The new yard waste requirements for the City of Springboro become effective July 1, 2010. After this date, residents have the following choices for disposal of their yard waste
1. Purchase paper bags from a local retailer (ex. Home Depot, Kroger’s, Lowes, Meijer’s, Sears, and True Value) and leave at the curb with your regular trash.
2. Rent a 96 gallon yard waste container from Waste Management for $3/month (plus tax)
3. Purchase your own yard waste container as long as they meet the following requirements
a. Container must be clearly marked “YARD WASTE ONLY”
b. The container shall be no more than 35-gallons and weigh no more than 50 lbs. The 50 lbs is the maximum weight allowed for manual tipping by Waste Management Employees. You may purchase a larger container as long as it meets Waste Management standards for tipping (it must have a metal or plastic bar that can be hooked to their semi-automated tipper). The carts Waste Management currently uses are manufactured by Cascade, the cart you purchase from the store should meet their specifications. Before purchasing ask if the cart meets the minimum standards for semi-automated tipping.
